Ramsey Crookall – JJBurton

The Isle of Man Art Society's Easter Exhibition fills the Villa Marina Arcade each spring, a free show of island talent, with work inspired by the landscapes, wildlife and shorelines of the UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man. Ramsey Crookall has sponsored it for years and hosts the private opening night, which Jonathan covers: the considered look at a canvas, the introduction across the floor, the room as it fills. The 2026 preview welcomed the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer, and record sales followed on the night.

Polo in the Park

Polo in the Park is Ramsey Crookall's private client day, held each May at the Ballacooiley Equestrian Estate in Ballaugh: over 600 guests, jazz on the lawn, classics from the Manx Classic Car Club, and two Triskelion Polo Club teams contesting the Crookall Cup. Its success inspired the Viking Cup, the Island's premier invitational tournament, held at the same estate each August. Hospitality at its most relaxed: a marquee, the branding catching the light, the game playing out beyond the ropes. Jonathan works the crowd and the action both.

Wine Tasting

A private client wine tasting: an intimate evening of pours, talk and good company in one of the island's cellar venues. Lower light, closer quarters: the kind of event where the photographs have to be unobtrusive to be honest. Jonathan captures the focus on the pour, the swirl, the verdict, and the ease around the table.

Women in Business

What began as a breakfast is now a series. Women in Business brings together professional women from across the island's business community for talks on wealth and health, a shared table, and the connections that come from being in the room. Jonathan documents the warmth of it: the welcome at the door, the listening, the conversations that carry on long after the plates are cleared.

Patrick Crookall Triathlon

A 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile ride and a 13.1-mile run: the Patrick Crookall Manx Middle Distance Triathlon is the Island's only middle-distance triathlon, run in and around Mooragh Park in Ramsey, sponsored by Ramsey Crookall in memory of Patrick “Paddy” Crookall and in support of Isle Listen. The most physical day in the calendar, and the most rewarding to shoot: Jonathan anticipates the effort and the finish line, framing the determination on every face from the first stroke to the last stride.
